2021 Back to School Breakfast

PENCIL’s annual Back to School Breakfast was held both virtually and in-person this August, just as students in Metro Nashville Public Schools returned to the classroom. This event aims to inspire community leaders and business partners to start the school year with a commitment to support MNPS.

This year, PENCIL hosted 100 virtual attendees and 350 in-person attendees. With mask requirements and safety precautions in place, this hybrid event surpassed all expectations. Thanks to our dedicated community-members, PENCIL exceeded its fundraising goals for the breakfast.

In total, PENCIL raised $64,000+ from the breakfast which directly increases our ability to provide resources and support to students. We are pleased to also share that 83 first-time PENCIL donors helped to enable this great success.

We’re grateful to everyone who made the Back to School Breakfast possible:

  • Our generous sponsors who continue investing in PENCIL through thick and thin, especially our Presenting Sponsors, Elliott Davis and our in-person host, Belmont University
  • Our opening speakers, Dr. Greg Jones, Dr. Adrienne Battle, Robert Fisher, Norman Merrifield, Jim Schmitz, Hank Ingram, Brad Southern, and Don Walker
  • Our co-chairs Stephanie Bonner, Kason Davis, Gealita Greenhill, LeShane Greenhill and Shannon Sullivan
  • Our amazing PENCIL Champions and Impact Session panelists and moderators
