On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, PENCIL celebrated its 18th annual A Little Night of Music, presented in collaboration with Creative Artists Agency, at the world-famous Grand Ole Opry House. The event surpassed all expectations – the evening started with a happy hour where guests enjoyed food from local food trucks – The Loveless Cafe, The Grilled Cheeserie and Pie Town Tacos – and beverages from Yazoo Brewing Company and Lipman Brothers. Guests then joined us on-stage for an inspiring program and a special concert featuring Lady A and Jeverson.
Thanks to our supporters, it was a memorable and RECORD-BREAKING evening. In total, PENCIL raised $353,555+ which directly increases our ability to provide resources and support to MNPS students. Through the event, we were also able to raise more than $52,000 for PENCIL’s endowment, ensuring PENCIL’s work to support Metro Nashville Public Schools will continue forever.
We’re grateful to everyone who made the night possible:
Inner Circle sponsors Amazon and Dollar General
Our friend Ana Schwager and Southwest Airlines, for an unforgettable surprise and delight
Our generous Patrons and sponsors who continue investing in PENCIL
Co-chairs Brandon Hill, Frank Schriner, and Robyn Williams
Honorary chairs Brent Poulton and Zulfat Suara
Auction chairs Dane Brunett, Jacky Gomez, and Karen Schillinger
Glencliff High School representatives Thommye’ Kelley, Sara Zeledon, Ana Chicas Guzman, and Mercy Bustamante
As a pre-celebration to the fundraiser, patrons joined PENCIL at Ellington’s Restaurant in the Fairlane Hotel on Thursday, April 14 for our A Little Night Patron Party. The small reception included a private performance by Raul Malo, a multi-hyphenate artist and the lead singer of The Mavericks. Raul serenaded the crowd with his original music and a cover of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon.”
