“We are truly excited for what promises to be a Nashville-insider evening you won’t want to miss!” said Angie Adams, PENCIL Foundation’s President and CEO. “Thanks to our friends at Creative Artists Agency, it has become a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will have a great impact on the students of Nashville’s public schools.”
The lineup includes Esten, who plays Deacon Clayborn, a songwriter and band leader who struggles with his own demons as he teams up with the show’s legendary country music superstar. The role is the latest in Esten’s successful career that began with his theatrical debut in London portraying Buddy Holly in the hit West End musical, Buddy. During that time, Esten also appeared on the original British version of Whose Line Is It Anyways?. His many television credits include roles on Big Love, Enlightened, The Office and ER. His film credits include Swing Vote, Thirteen Days, 61* and The Postman.
Esten will be joined by Lennon & Maisy, who weather life’s ups-and-downs as Maddie and Daphne Conrad, the daughters of the Nashville’s aging superstar. The two are actually real-life sisters born in Oshawa, Ontario. Prior to Nashville airing, they had their first taste of stardom when their cover of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” went viral on YouTube. Other notable accomplishments include singing at The White House, penning a children’s book and appearing on Good Morning America.
Alongside Esten and Lennon & Maisy is Chris Carmack, who portrays Will Lexington on the show. Prior to Nashville, Carmack studied at NYU’s prestigious Tisch Adler Conservatory for two years before heading to Los Angeles, where he helped launch the theatrical production of Elephant. His work in the play won him a role as Luke Ward in the hit television drama, The OC.
Creative Artists Agency, Ryman Hospitality Properties and Dollar General are proud to act as presenters of the event showcasing the roots of Music City U.S.A.
