Last week kicked off a valuable summer work experience for hundreds of Nashville youth through the Opportunity NOW youth employment initiative. Through the summer internship program, Opportunity NOW students across the city will be working with various agencies and businesses to gain real life skills that will be helpful in the workplace.
We are happy to welcome one Opportunity NOW intern who will be working on a number of projects throughout the summer alongside our LP PENCIL Box Volunteer Coordinator, Hannah. During her internship, Sydney will assist in building a more robust LP PENCIL Box volunteer program by creating a volunteer handbook and conducting an official volunteer orientation. She will also use her creative flare to help get the store ready for MNPS teachers to begin shopping in July.
We are thrilled to welcome our intern to the PENCIL team! Get to know her below:
Sydney, Hume Fogg Academic High School
Sydney is a rising senior at Hume Fogg High School. She is excited about improving her business management skills, learning more about leadership and organization and how to effectively communicate in the workplace.
Getting to provide vital supplies to students and helping teachers foster a better learning experience are what excites Sydney for her time with PENCIL.
Stay tuned for more details on how Sydney’s internship is progressing through the summer!
