Freshmen Look Ahead to the Career Exploration Fair
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, more than 4,200 ninth grade students will head to the Music City Center for the 17th annual My Future. My Way. Career Exploration Fair. This unique event gives students the opportunity to connect with PENCIL Partners from a wide range of industries and explore the many career paths available to them in high school and beyond.
Every MNPS freshman takes part in the fair, but it’s especially important for students in the Academies of Nashville. This is their first big step in choosing one of 35 career pathways offered across our 12 zoned high schools. More than 100 local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations will be there, representing fields like healthcare, tech, manufacturing, media, and hospitality—ready to answer questions and share what they do.
“This day allows a young person to tap into their interests, understand the many possibilities available, and envision their future,” said Bob Kucher, PENCIL Chief Partnerships and Programs Officer. “Business and industry leaders from across our community are sharing their stories and connecting with students at their level.”
In addition to speaking with thousands of students, Partners also have the chance to connect with fellow participants, including MNPS leaders, Academy Coaches, the PENCIL team, and more.
While this year’s My Future. My Way. Career Exploration Fair is fully booked, it takes place every fall. Sound interesting? A PENCIL Partnership Manager can share more about this event and other ways to get involved with Metro Nashville Public Schools. Meet them here:
