At the recent Back to School Breakfast, PENCIL was proud to present the 2025 Ingram Award to Stantec Consulting Services. The global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting also exemplifies a deep commitment to community engagement. In Nashville, that dedication shines through its longstanding partnership with John Overton High School.
For at least 15 years — dating back to Stantec’s first partnership with Overton —students have benefited from office tours, mock interviews, and classroom lectures designed to introduce them to careers in the architecture, engineering, and construction fields.
Marc Pearson, Senior Principal of Environmental Services, accepted the award on behalf of Stantec. A hands-on business partner, Marc enthusiastically shares his time and talents with students and staff at Overton, often working directly in engineering classrooms and labs. His dedication to public education and to our students earned him the Strobel Award for Direct Service Volunteer in 2019.
“I can’t think of a more appropriate way to recognize Stantec’s commitment to PENCIL and to Metro students,” said Christiane Buggs, PENCIL President & CEO. “The principles that guided their first partnership remain true today, as the company and its colleagues continue to invest in our work and in our students so they are prepared to succeed after high school.”
Stantec is one of many PENCIL Partners who see a bright future for Nashville’s students. Saad Rajput, who accepted the Ingram Award alongside Marc, is one of them. More than a decade ago, they met during an Overton job shadow experience — and today, he’s part of the Stantec team as a full-time Mechanical Engineer.
The Ingram Award is presented annually to a community partner or volunteer who provides outstanding support and engagement to MNPS through PENCIL. It honors E. Bronson Ingram, who played a key role in PENCIL’s founding and served as a longtime board member. His company, Ingram Industries, has been a PENCIL Partner since the organization’s inception and now partners with Cockrill Elementary School. Past recipients include Dollar General Corporation, Rogers Group, and HCA Healthcare/Tristar.
