13,000 Boxes. 70 Schools. A Strong Start for Nashville’s Youngest Students.

This summer, PENCIL helped prepare Nashville’s youngest students for the school year through Every Student Known Boxes, providing 13,000 boxes of school supplies to 70 MNPS schools—enough for every kindergarten and first-grade student in MNPS-run schools.

Throughout June and July, 300 volunteers contributed 700 hours to prepare the boxes for distribution. Together, they helped put an incredible amount of supplies directly into the hands of Nashville’s youngest learners:

  • 39,000 boxes of Crayola crayons
  • 312,000 pencils
  • 91,000 glue sticks
  • 13,000 complete Every Student Known Boxes

The purpose is simple: every student deserves to begin the school year with the tools they need to learn, create, and participate fully in the classroom.

Every Student Known Boxes are one example of what happens when Nashville’s business and nonprofit community comes together around public education. PENCIL helps coordinate the resources, volunteers, and logistics that turn generosity into tangible support for students and teachers across MNPS.
