Our second-annual Together 4 Teachers project was a major success and included a two-day Pack-a-thon, and a Pep Rally for teachers. Through this special project, every classroom teacher in MNPS had access to a tote bag filled with high-need supplies. Our goals were to celebrate and appreciate teachers, as they prepared for the new school year, and to raise awareness about the LP PENCIL Box – our free, year-round teacher supply store.

On July 28 and 29, more than 100 group and individual volunteers packed school supplies into nearly 5,000 tote bags during the Together 4 Teachers Pack-a-thon, presented by Education Networks of America (ENA). The teacher supply bags were then distributed to MNPS classroom teachers at the Together 4 Teachers Outdoor Pep Rally, presented by First Horizon Bank. More than 1,000 MNPS teachers came to First Horizon Park to collect their supply bags, enjoy music, activities, stadium snacks, and more, alongside their colleagues and peers before the school year began on August 10.

PENCIL’s annual Back to School Breakfast was held both virtually and in-person this August, just as students in Metro Nashville Public Schools returned to the classroom. This event aims to inspire community leaders and business partners to start the school year with a commitment to support MNPS.

PENCIL’s 4th annual Back to School Breakfast Fundraiser, presented by Elliott Davis, will raise support for our unique programs that support student success by linking community resources to Nashville public schools. Join our business partners and donor community, as they share insight into their own experiences with PENCIL’s programs. 

Award-winning musician and Old Crow Medicine Show bandleader, Ketch Secor, made a special guest-appearance at two Metro Nashville Public Schools on June 2, 2021. Music students at the district’s orchestra and band clinics watched Secor perform and asked questions about his life and career in music.
